Summary and Analysis
Dawson and his friends are high school students. They face a very important exam- PSAT. Dawson is surprise because of Eve’s presents. It is an advance copy of the PSAT. Dawson takes it and wants to share with his friends. Before the test begins, fire alarm rings and the copy disappear. No one knows that Andie who is a really good student gets the copy. At the end of Epi.3, Dawson and Pacey give up the PSAT. Principal Green talks with Andie and tells her that she gets the scholarship, but she is not surprise and feels guilty. At last, she goes and tells Principal Green that she is cheating. After discussion, the school still gives her the scholarship.
Relation to Case Study
In the case study from Unit 9 and in this TV show, they both talk about plagiarism. In the TV show, Andie did plagiarize in PSAT. In the case study, Igor plagiarized the research and his professor found it. Although two characters did same mistakes, Andie was brave and faced her problem. If Igor did not admit the fault, he would fail or be expelled out of the school. Andie defeat herself and told her professor the truth. These are their differences.
Reaction to Film
I like this TV show very much. From the TV show and Andie, I learned a truth that we should be brave to face our problems and mistakes; god would forgive your fault. Nowadays, plagiarism is very popular in the universities. We should avoid plagiarizing. If we have problems about plagiarism, we can go to the writing center and ask for help. This is a good way to improve your writing skill and we can find our problems. Do not be shy to go there. It is good place for help.

Plagiarism in China

Plagiarism in China
Plagiarism means the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another and the representation of them as one’s own original work. In America, if you copy or quote somebody’s words or ideas without mention, you will be regarded as plagiarism, and it is very serious. You may be punished according to law.
In China, the rules of plagiarism are not completed. In the universities of China, a large number of students have plagiarized especially for the undergraduate students. They just want to get diplomas and do not spend much time on study. At last, they are forced to plagiarize because of lack of time. Although the rules are very strict, students prefer to plagiarize instead of studying hard. Many students cheat in exams, but just a few students was discovered. Thus, a lot of students are willing to take an adventure. Students who were found in plagiarism would be marked on their credit or be fired out of the university. When you are employee, you would be fired out of your company.
When the sentences were a person who wrote, the footnotes are required. When the sentences were said by a person, we use quotation marks with the sentences. When you use information belong someone else, we use a bibliography or list of references. In these ways, China and America use same rules in using footnotes, quotation marks, bibliographies and lists of references. However, people often want to take an adventure because of the competition in the large numbers of the population. In China, we always have national examinations to single out talented people. It is Chinese problem and it is also different from the United State.
