I. Statement of the Problem
A. Definition: Francine is a sophomore transition student from Illinois. In Louisiana, she met Tony who comes from African-American. Soon, they fell in love; nevertheless, the students in the same school against them. When they watched TV in the living room, a rock flying through the window and hit Tony. Francine was so scared. They asked campus police for help, but they refused.
B. Analysis: So many students against Francine staying with Tony, because Tony has black skin. In America, blacks couldn’t even attend this university until the Supreme Court decision in 1954. Racism was existed, and students were outspoken because their prejudice.

II. Suggestion of possible solutions
A. Francine should break up with Tony and she needn’t bear stress from students.
B. Francine should continue to stay with Tony and ignore other people’s mind.
C. Francine should talk to the other students and try to change their racism.

1. Advantages: Francine can go back with her friends. Moreover, she is a student. It is too early to have a boyfriend.
2. Disadvantages: If Francine always influence by the opinion of others, she will be tired to live in the world. Everyone has their own opinion, you can’t control their mind.

1. Advantages: Francine and Tony are come from Illinois, they just temporary to study in America. In their hometown, people never judged by the color of their skin.
2. Disadvantages: Francine as a transfer student studying in America, she needs friends. If she continues to stay with Tony and ignore others, it means that she has no friends any more.
C. Francine should talk to the other students and try to change their racism.
1. Advantages: Although Francine can’t change all of American people’s prejudice, she can talk with her friends and let them know Tony is very friendly and she do like him. One day her friends may not against them any more.
2. Disadvantages: Racism has existed in America for a long time, so it is difficult to change their mind.
IV. Selection of a Solution
A. Choice: (B) Francine should continue to stay with Tony and ignore other people’s mind.
B. Justification: America is a fair country, and there is no a law said that a black man can’t to date a white woman. People’s prejudice is wrong, so in my opinion they should ignore what people think and just be happy together.
